In 2008 Houda Bakkali published her first art collection in which she paid tribute to the figure of her mother, an Arab and Muslim woman who was a reference of freedom and empowerment for the artist and who already in the 60s and 70s wore bikinis in the beaches of Morocco.
In 2018, the series “Beautiful African Woman”, inspired by that female figure, finished focusing Bakkali on the international stage, who won the New Talent Award at the Cannes International Festival of World Artists, an event sponsored by the city council. Each edition of this festival brings together artists from all over the world during the Royal Regatta on the iconic Pointe Croisette.
